Chestnuts in Autumn – Japan

Chestnuts 10-26-2012 WatermarkCHESTNUTS IN AUTUMN – Chestnuts are very popular in Japan.  Warm, roasted chestnuts have such a rich flavor.  I didn’t have chestnuts when I was a child, but I remember walking through knee-high piles of Autumn leaves that made a delightful crunchy sound as I kicked my feet along.  The colors of the leaves and a crispness in the air shouted Autumn to all the senses.  In San Diego, Autumn is announced by the departing of tourists more than a change in the weather!
