TORREY PINES STATE RESERVE – Torrey Pine Trees

TORREY PINE (Pinus torreyana) – One of the rarest native pine tree only growing in the area of Torrey Pines State Reserve and on the island of Santa Rosa, off the coast of Santa Barbara.  Kumeyaay, Native Americans of San Diego, ate the pine nuts and used the pine pitch to repair cracks in pottery and used pine needles to make baskets.

THE BEST TIME TO PLANT A TREE WAS 20 YEARS AGO.  THE NEXT BEST TIME IS NOW.       Chinese Proverb
