PAPER ART – EGGS COVERED WITH JAPANESE BRUSH PAINTINGS

Sumi Painting Collage Eggs 4-2014 WATERMARK

Sometimes artists end up with stacks of practice paintings, which we don’t know what to do with.  The rice paper is lovely and we get creative in different uses for these not-quite-good-enough-to-frame paintings.  I have used my paintings as gift wrap, collage paper & even pages in handmade books.  A few years ago, I was inspired to use my practice Japanese brush paintings to cover cardboard eggs.  The technique is the same as covering eggs with origami paper except you need to position the painting to be in the center of the egg to look attractive.
