TANGERINE SEASON – SAN DIEGO

Tangerines in basket 12-2014 WATERMARKLA JOLLA FARMER’S MARKET had big baskets of tangerines this Sunday.  I love how San Diego’s winter is the citrus season & the market is loaded with oranges & tangerines of all types.  I grew up where a tangerine in Winter was a luxury & finding one in the bottom of my Christmas stocking was a real pleasure.  The perfume of a tangerine lets me know that sweet taste is waiting to be released by peeling the skin & taking a bite!

SAN DIEGO CHRISTMAS WREATHS FROM LOCAL PLANTS

SAN DIEGO CHRISTMAS – Driving around I see magnolia pods on the trees with bright red seeds & the San Diego native Pepper trees have red berries, too.  The La Jolla Farmer’s Market has a wonderful wreath made of magnolia leaves & unopened Magnolia seed pods.  I see another wreath made with Chili Peppers, too.  It’s Christmas in San Diego!

CHRISTMAS PLANTS – ACCORDION BOOK WITH VELLUM PAGES

POINSETTIA, PINE & HOLLY – A few plants of the Christmas season that I love.  Small 4 inch x 4 inch Japanese brush paintings on rice paper.  A piece of cardstock glued to the top with a ribbon “pull”.  Make an accordion book in Christmas season colors with vellum envelopes to insert the lovely Christmas plant paintings.  Voila’ a book of Christmas.
