It rained a lot yesterday and the sky was filled with big puffy clouds, which reflected in the glistening sand. I spotted raindrop patterns in the sand, which became smooth where the tidal waves were coming up onto the beach. There was seaweed decorating the beach. It is great fun to step on the seaweed kelp pods and hear them go “Pop”! Some kids drew a spiral “mandala” in the sand and were having a great time creating designs. When the sun went down, it was a giant glowing pumpkin. So gorgeous. Earlier in the day I went to visit the harbor seals in La Jolla and spotted lots of happy nursing pups with their moms. Life is very good as an artist by-the-sea.
