DAILY ART JOURNAL 2012 – One of the interesting things about keeping daily art journals is seeing the continuity of not just my life, but of nature. The same themes repeat themselves. Looking at my daily art journals for the last 4 years I can see that every August I have done an entry about the hot & humid weather in San Diego. The reason this happens each year is due to the hurricane season in Mexico. It’s fascinating to me that I can publish art journal pages from 2 years ago & the entries are ones I could have painted today! Seeing the patterns in my life & in nature makes it very worthwhile to keep a daily art journal. I just can’t wait for the sticky humid & hot weather to end!
Today the California Coastal Commission voted to close the beach to all human access during the pupping season (December 15 to May 15) for the next 5 years, which will protect the pregnant seals before and during birthing & the newborn and nursing pups. Thanks to the City of San Diego for voting to protect the harbor seals!
A very Happy Day for the seals! This photo shows a harbor seal mother bonding with her newborn, which is only a few minutes old.
