“She showed me on the sand small broken bits of marine matter, driftwood, seaweed, stones, sea birds’ feathers & like black crosses, cormorants clinging to the rocks…along the coast all afternoon, sun & fog waged war. …I took off my shoes beside the fire, sand spilled from them & soon I was falling fast asleep.” — Pablo Neruda
WATERCOLOR. Beads on the string reflect the sea calling me instead of house cleaning!
HANDMADE BOOKS CAN BE SO MUCH FUN TO DISPLAY. This accordion crown-binding book can be displayed standing up & looks like a star from above! I thought this format was perfect for my photos of a San Diego sunset with a green flash. The green flash is the spark of green that is on the horizon the instant that the sun moves below the horizon. Don’t blink or you won’t see it & it doesn’t happen often. Pages for this book were made by dropping acrylic liquid ink & then speading it quickly with a large brush. I tried to keep the color palettes to the amber, yellow & moody blues of an ocean sunset. 2015
