GOLDEN MEDALLION TREES BLOOM IN SAN DIEGO IN AUGUST – As if a florist arranged an avenue of sunny yellow “flower bouquet” trees, the trees line the streets delighting the eye. Golden Medallion trees – cassia leptophylla – are originally from Brazil, but they thrive now in San Diego. When the yellow flower petals fall off, they leave a pale green “flower” behind, which is quite lovely. The sidewalks & yards are covered with strewn flower petals floating on the summer breezes. After the trees bloom, they leave foot long brown seed pods that rattle when you pick them up! Nature is simply magic.
