WHITE DAHLIA FLOWERS IN BAUER-LIKE WHITE VASE – WATERCOLOR PAINTING

Nature & Botanical Sketches 8-1-2010 to Current - 36 WATERMARK

NATURE & BOTANICAL ART JOURNAL – 2011

Sometimes in life it’s the show-stopping ones that get our attention & at other times it’s the quiet, sweet & elegant that stop us in our tracks.

All of these beauties were photographed at a Dahlia show where they had a competition.  After the judging, there were buckets & buckets of flowers for sale.  A friend & I took home a few dozen.  What fun to fill our homes with these technicolor flowers of layered petals.  Oh my.  La de dahlias!

DAHLIA’S AT THE FARMER’S MARKET – SAN DIEGO

Nature & Botanical Sketches 8-1-2010 to Current - 38 WATERMARKFARMER’S MARKET FLOWERS – It’s so lovely to go to the Farmer’s Market and see the rainbow of flowers for sale.  There are even small posy bouquets for a few dollars to take home and you can put them somewhere you spend lots of time so you can admire and enjoy the flowers.  A gift to yourself.  Fresh flowers breathe life into a home and brighten our hearts.  This vendor was preparing bouquets of Dahlias for sale and there was a confetti of petals on the ground.   Walking around the Farmer’s Market and taking photos is a feast for the eyes and great inspiration for art!    (Nature & Botanical Art Journal – 2011)

La de Dahlia

La de Dahlia is the name of a dahlia stand I used to go to 15 years ago. They had a field of dahlias growing next to their flower stand. Some dahlias, like the lion ones, are really gigantic. Have a La di Dahlia day ! (la di da homage to Diane Keaton).
