CALIFORNIA POPPIES WELCOME SUMMER SOLSTICE

SUMMER SOLSTICE ARRIVES – Here in San Diego California Poppies open their golden petals each morning & lift their flower faces up to greet the sun.  Long hot Summer days seem to be endless and our faces lift joyfully up to the sun, too.  Like the poppies though that will bloom & fade Summer Solstice marks the subtle change of each day becoming shorter & shorter because no Summer lasts forever even if we wish it so.

California Poppies with their golden color remind me that they are the state flower for California.  Japanese brush paintings on rice paper.  Poppy photo taken in La Jolla.

MATILIJA POPPIES – FLOWERS TO DREAM ABOUT

MATILIJA POPPIES – Like a lovely painting that haunts my dreams.  I stop & gaze at them letting the world go by not a thought in my head, but how lovely this life really is.

These poppies are blooming on a large bush in Pacific Beach.  They are covered in bees drinking up all the yellow pollen!
