Just delivered a shipment of “A Guide to San Diego Sea Shells” to the Birch Aquarium. Such a lovely aquarium with an emphasis on education to children. Look for my book in the Research section! https://aquarium.ucsd.edu/
LIVING PURPLE DWARF OLIVE SHELLS IN PROTECTED SAN DIEGO TIDE POOLS – These shells are beautifully illustrated in my book “A Guide to San Diego Sea Shells”, which you can purchase direct from my Etsy Shop
BEAN CLAMS – donax gouldii – recently washed up by the thousands on San Diego beaches. These tiny shells are about the size of your thumbnail and often remain hinged when they wash up. Their patterns are all different and the shell interiors are gorgeous. These tiny shells that move along the beach with the tides are sometimes referred to as “the dance of the coquina”. I just love these little shells!
Watercolor illustrations of these Bean Clams can be found in my book “A Guide to San Diego Sea Shells”.
