IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT PROTECTING THE HARBOR SEALS

IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT PROTECTING THE HARBOR SEALS, It’s not just about the smiling mothers with their baby seals, it’s not just about the seal pups entering this world and needing to nurse in peace so they can survive, it’s not just about keeping people from petting wild Harbor seals and their babies, it’s not just about La Jolla.  It’s about this world, it’s about this planet we live on and how we all need to live in a respectful harmony with nature and have the realization that we are all nature.  Every single one of us.  I’m so thankful for the signs recently posted by NOAA educating the public about not disturbing the Harbor seals and their babies.

NEWBORN HARBOR SEAL PUPS IN LA JOLLA

HARBOR SEAL PUPPING SEASON IS IN FULL SWING IN LA JOLLA NOW.  As of today we have 14 pups.  The pups a day old show off their tiny pink umbilical cord announcing their arrival.  Mom immediately takes the pups swimming.  Today the pups were practicing swimming in rough surf.  As soon as the pup got frightened, mom gave the pup a backwards kiss & let the pup ride on her back!  I carry this beauty in my heart.

HARBOR SEAL PUPPING SEASON IN LA JOLLA – WELCOME PEONY!

PEONY, A HARBOR SEAL PUP WAS BORN LAST WEEK IN LA JOLLA.  Her mom is very attentive giving Peony lots of seal kisses.  I love Peony’s little heart-shaped nose!
