LOBSTER BOATS IN LA JOLLA – PHOTOS & DRAWINGS

LOBSTER SEASON OPENS IN LA JOLLA & FROM THE SHORE I OBSERVE PELICANS RIDING ON THE BOATS AND SEA LIONS WAITING FOR A BREAKFAST BAIT HANDOUT AS THE LOBSTER TRAPS ARE EMPTIED.  CALIFORNIA SPINY LOBSTERS ARE NOT “TRUE” LOBSTERS AS THEY HAVE NO CLAWS.  One time a bunch of lobster traps washed up into La Jolla Cove after a storm & the lifeguards emptied the traps of all the lobsters, put them into buckets and returned them out to the marine reserve park where fishing is illegal.  It was wonderful to see that these creatures had a second chance at life.

COASTAL WILDFLOWERS IN SAN DIEGO – PHOTOS & ART

SAN DIEGO COASTAL WILD FLOWERS BLOOM AFTER THE RAIN.  Four years ago I traveled the coast of San Diego County photographing and researching the wild flowers, which bloomed after our first rainy season in 10 years.  These are a few of my photographs along with ink and black colored pencil drawings for my Pattern Series.
